When France won the World Cup in 1998, they had a famous ritual which seemed to bring them good luck. Before every game, Laurent Blanc kissed Fabien Barthez’s bald head - and it worked!

Now the French seem to have discovered another trick. Marseille’s defender Adil Rami has not played a single minute at the tournament, but he serves the team in a different way.

Before each match, France’s players run up to Rami and touch his moustache. Antoine Griezmann was the first to do it before the group matches, and France had no problem progressing from the group. So the ritual continued during the knock-out round, and now every member of Les Bleus has to touch Rami’s moustache and beard before each game.

By the way, Rami draws attention not just because of that superstition. He dates the famous actress Pamela Anderson, who has also arrived in Russia to cheer for her partner and France.

The couple met last year during the Cannes festival, and now Rami and Andersson have already planned their wedding after the World Cup.
