Sevilla FC received german side Borussia Dortmund at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium for the first leg of the Champions League Knockout stage. This tie is an interesting one as both teams are equally strong and at the same level, and boy, the game did not let anyone down.

Sevilla’s right winger, Suso, put his name down on the scoresheet very early into the game (7’) after taking a shot, who was deviated by both Jude Bellingham and Mats Hummels, and ending in the back of the net.

Germans do not give up easily and at the 19’ of the game, Mahmoud Dahoud scored an amazing goal from outside the box, leveling the game. Let’s not forget the Borussia Dortmund has the current Golden Boy in their ranks, Erling Haaland, who at the 27’ puts his team up on the scoring sheet after a magnificent assist by Jadon Sancho. Inspired by yesterday’s performance by Kylian Mbappe, as Haaland himself stated, the Golden Boy scored his brace right before halftime.

The Spanish side came out in the second half willing to leave everything on the pitch to try and at least level the game. Sevilla had plenty of opportunities but it was not until the 84’ of the game that the dutch striker, Luuk de Jong, managed shortened the distance for Sevilla to end the game with a scoring board of 2-3 in favor of the Germans.

Borussia Dortmund will receive Sevilla at Signal Iduna Park on March 9 for the second and last leg of the Round of 16, and I am sure is going to be a great ending!
