The situation:

The fifth of the table will meet the tenth. What doesn't look like the most exciting match at first might turn out to be the game of the match day.

After the table toppers from Köln have once again missed two points, today's host Union Berlin could even take the lead in the 2nd Bundesliga with a nice victory. If St. Pauli should not also win it's game against Holstein Kiel.

The Berliners are still unbeaten this season and the team of coach Urs Fischer are burning to expand that. The best home team has also the best defensive to offer, the foundation for Union's positive start to the season.

But recently Dresden has shown some strength in other stadiums and they would like to collect further points away today. From the last 3 games away they brought considerable 7 point back into the Elbe city. Since Patrick Ebert, who was suspended for the last game, will be on board again, Dynamo now hopes that the offensive will be a lot more dangerous than in the last home game against Erzgebirge Aue. Despite a long numerical advantage, the game ended only 1:1.

Many peopl have repeatedly used the rather wretched title of "Ostderby", since two teams of former East Germany battling each other, but there have already been 65 duels between these two teams. The balance speaks clearly in favor of the guests, which could decide 30 games for themselves. The hosts from Berlin could win only 16 times against Dresden. In recent years, however, the balance of power has rather reversed, so that Union goed into this game as a favorite again. But they should be warned in Berlin, the last home game against Dynamo was lost 1:0 last season, for which they then avenged themselves in Dresden with the same result.

In any case, we can count on a once again sold out "Alten Försterei "-stadium in Berlin. Although the weather promises dull and cool autumn weather, I'm sure that especially the fans of the host team will heat up everyone around the pitch. The atmosphere will be excellent and the "Alte Försterei" will be on fire again.

The game:

Despite an early yellow-red card for Dresden's Nikolaou Union acted particularly in the offensive rather uninspired, the result was then also a 0-0 at half time. Also in the second half there wast not much improvement on the side of the Berliners. There offensive play didn't really get any better against the good standing guests. The most noticeable player was then the former mentioned Ebert, who despite numerical disadvantage went on again and again and also tried to finish himself.

Just before the end, Abdullahi had the chance of the day to score the leading goal for Berlin, but Dynamo goalkeeper Schubert saved brilliantly. In the final phase, Union still pressed and hit the post twice, but that was it.

Not exactly the expected fiery battle between two hungry teams, but both managed to to be able to claim for themselves that their series will hold. Dresden steals another two points and Union remains undefeated. Even though they have set themselves some higher targets for this home game.

The big chance for the lead in the standings was there, competitor St. Pauli also failed in their match today. The team from Hamburg disappointed and lost 0:1 at home against Kiel.

Dresden ends this matchday on the 11th place, for Dynamo it will be time again to bring home another victory, in order not to slide into the vicinity of the relegation places.

Union, meanwhile, move up to third place in the table, only two points behind the leading 1.FC Köln and the HSV. The fine days continue in Berlin!

Preview for next weekend:

The next matchday gonna be hot again. HSV in second place receives the leader of the league from Köln. Although the two relegated Bundesliga teams are leading the table, they obviously haven't been in the best form in the last few weeks. Luckily, the pursuers are not exactly covering themselves with glory and don't seem to be in a position to take advantage of this situation.

Union has to go to Regensburg who are ranking tenth, but who still have to compete in Bochum on Monday. If either one wins, they would suddenly be very close to the trio on the top. The 2nd Bundesliga remains exciting, a lot seems to be possible for many clubs.

The fire is just stirred up, now it's time for the teams to heat it up some more.

I'm looking forward to it!
