Borussia Dortmund was staggering. During the week it suddenly looked as if this last week before the winter break could cast a long dark shadow on this so far so successful first round.

On Tuesday evening, the BVB had indeed lost to the newly promoted team of Fortuna Düsseldorf. And this after 15 games without defeat, in which they could even sweep the champion from München out of the Westfalenstadion.

Of all teams it was against the team from Düsseldorf, who apparently can only turn up the heat against the really strong teams. From their games in Leipzig and against Bayern, they had both brought home one point each.

And now the leader of the Bundesliga himself got under the wheels and was suddenly given the count by many sides. It seemed as if Bayern, after they were already 9 points behind, could perhaps even come close to only 3 points after this year's last match day. For the last home game of the season, the Borussia from Dortmund received the runner-up, the Borussia from Mönchengladbach, who had also played very well so far.

But even if the BVB should have been a little shaken this week, this strong Dortmund team was not yet ready to fall down at all.

The second-placed team in the table did not prove to be the feared opponent as expected and was sent home yesterday evening with a narrow result, but after a clear match which ended 2-1.

Once again, Marco Reus, who played his 250th Bundesliga match, guaranteed success. Reus was on the pitch in all the Bundesliga 17 games of the first half and also in this game he once again scored a very important goal. His winning goal was already the 11 times he was successful this season and Reus hopefully seems to have left his injury series behind.

For Dortmund now it's winter break with 42 points and even if Bayern should win in Frankfurt, Borussia will start the second half with at least 6 points ahead. A good and important buffer, which should give the team a good portion of self-confidence and security, so that at the end of the season they will remain at the very top of the tables.

And the teams also has big plans for the international stage. Having won their group in the Champions League this autumn, leaving Atletico Madrid behind, they will now face England's Tottenham Hotspurs next year.

The Spurs are very near the top of the English Premier League this season and in their last Champions League match at the legendary Nou Camp stadium, they even drew FC Barcelona, which has ensured their own survival in the highest European league.

Dortmund must now deliver so that in 5 months to come they can really cheer and celebrate. Black-yellow remains the color of the moment and I'd be happy if it will finally become the color of this season.

Borussia Dortmund, give it all!
