The first half of the 2018-2019 season is almost over and there are teams, one team in each of the two highest German football leagues, the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga, which are still undefeated.

And that doesn't include the current champions from Bayern München, who have been beaten several times this season. At the top of the Bundesliga is Borussia Dortmund, who currently has a great run.

And the BVB could also win the direct encounter with the record champion from München after a grandiose match.

In last weekend's home game against Werder Bremen again they didn't miss a beat and with 39 points are now clearly sitting in 1st place of the strongest German league.

The other Borussia from Mönchengladbach and the German champion are equal on points in the places behind. However, they are already 9 points short of Dortmund, which at least this year cannot be made up anymore.

The scoring record also speaks clearly on favor of the BVB, they have already kicked the ball 41 times into the some other team' goal. Paco Alcácer and Marco Reus alone have scored more than half of Dortmund's goals, and there are many more to come.

Internationally, Dortmund also won their Champions League group, among others leaving Atletico Madrid behind. Now they are hoping for a favourable opponent for next year's knockout phase.

Two games are still scheduled this year, in the last match before the winter break, the current second Borussia Mönchengladbach comes to the Westfalenstadion. An interesting finale for this football year.

In the second Bundesliga, on the other hand, it is not the first in the table from Hamburg that is still undefeated. The HSV started the season with a big first embarrassing defeat, but then caught up in the last weeks and under the new coach Hannes Wolf took the lead.

Surprisingly, it is the 1.FC Union Berlin, who has been undefeated for 17 game days now and has settled for third place.

For the Berliners, the decisive factor for the current strength is the defense, which only allowed 12 goals in the games so far.

But since only 7 games were won, they are now unfortunately a few points behind the leading HSV.

In the German Cup, Union lost against the current table first of the 1st league Borussia Dortmund. But the second league team was only defeated in overtime after a more than respectable fight.

One more game is scheduled for the next weekend, then Union will have to play at Erzgebirge Aue. If their series should hold until the end of the year, we must expect the Eisernen in the second half of the season again.

In recent years they have always knocked on the door of the German football upper house on several occasions. If they can improve their play over the winter break, maybe this season Union can finally go really big.

The club and it's wonderful fans, who turn every home game in the Alte Försterei into an unforgettable experience, really deserve it.

In order to be able to enjoy first-class Bundesliga football in this wonderful venue in the future, when I am in my homeland again.

So far it has been a more than exciting and interesting season in both leagues and the second half of the current season promises to be exciting and entertaining. Let's sit back and relax and enjoy the spectacle.
