Today will be played one of the most anticipated games of the Italian championship, Il Derbi d’Italia, let's talk a bit about why it is called that way and the actual situation of both teams prior this important game. Let's go!!!

First of all, it is easy to understand why this game it is called Il Derbi d’Italia which translates to “The Italian Derby” as Juventus and Inter are the most successful teams on Italy with 34 League titles for the Bianconeri and 18 League titles for the Nerazzurri, and for me this is one of the most interesting aspects of this rivalry, these 2 teams have this derby because they managed to become the most successful teams on Serie A, therefore this game does not have a Political or socioeconomic background like the Real Madrid/ Barcelona and because of that, for me at least, makes it a more pure game.

Even tho this 2 teams have been part of many controversies in and out the field that have fueled their rivalry, the first one was on 1961 when the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) decided that the Juventus-Inter game, the second one between them that season, had to be played again because Juventus appealed the decision that ruled Inter as the Winner after Juve fans invaded the pitch. Inter felt this decision was unfair as the president of the FIGC was Juve’s Owner, Umberto Agnelli, and Inter decided to play that game with their youth team to lose 9-1 against the Bianconeri making Juventus the Champion that season.

Also we must remember the recent calciopoli scandal in 2006 were Juventus and AC Milan were severely punished for inducing the referees to give good calls for their teams, at the end the FIGC stripped Juventus from the 2004/05 and 2005/06 championships, gave them to Inter and sent Juve to the Serie B, which fueled, even more, their historic rivalry.

Juventus played that following season on Serie B to return to Serie A and after a few seasons they regained their competitive level and after winning again the League title on 2011/12 they’ve been the kings on Italy with 7 consecutive League titles and the signing of Ronaldo this season proved again that their desire to keep on their winning streak on Italy is very strong.

Today's game might not be the most interesting regarding the championship race as Juventus leads the table with 40 points, 11 more than Inter that sits at the 3rd place but taking in account the competitiveness that is always present between this 2 teams everytime they face each other, one can't expect anything less than a great football game.

Also it is worth mentioning that maybe Napoli is closer to Juve than Inter but Inter player by player has a better squad with Icardi, Lautaro and Keita which means they could fire up at any moment of the championship and shorten the gap between them and Juve to fight for the title in the second league of the tournament, and this game could be the turning point that triggers that, therefore to watch this game is a must for Football fans around the world!!!
