Every football-mad boy dreams of becoming a professional. A Mexican teenager at least lives it virtually until the scam is blown. Dionicio Farid Rodriguez Duran: The future of Juventus Turin, star player in the U20 and soon on the pitch with superstar Cristiano Ronaldo?
The name doesn't mean anything to you? Don't worry, the 19-year-old Mexican is not one of the greatest talents in Central American football, but rather the greatest fibber in recent history.
This guy created an alternative identity, a so-called fake profile, for himself on the social networks and who has thus virtually lived his dream as a professional footballer, at least for a short time.
The Fake Juventus Future Superstar
But unlike millions of players who create their own players in video games, Dionicio Farid simply placed his face on the body of a player from Juve's youth team via Photoshop and published the faxed image on the Instagram platform. With number 17, he posed in the Bianconeri jersey and wrote brazenly under the post: "I'm very happy about my first goal and our performance".
In his other contributions, he cheers together with the true talents of the old lady, signs autographs for small children and even deceives journalists in his native Mexico.
His falsified career begins in the youth team of the Mexican first division team Lobos BUAP and finally takes him via top club UNAM Pumas to Juves U20, which curiously doesn't exist in this form at all.
Mexico's media is celebrating!
The Mexican media follow his way into European top football. Dionicio Farid gives interviews and makes it to the front pages of newspapers. In September 2017, El Mundo de Tehuacan publishes a multi-page article about his alleged achievements, Marcador even sees him as a player with a secure future in Juves first team and the Champions League.
There is some confusion about his name. Sometimes he is written Dionicio, sometimes Dionisio. In reports he is mostly called "Dionicio Farid", but sometimes only Rodriguez, Duran or Farid.
Meanwhile Dionicio Farid should have awoken from his dream. The swindle has been blown, the Internet fame has faded and his Instagram account has been deleted. It's unclear whether he has any criminal consequences to fear. What is clear, however, is that Dionicio Farid's dream of becoming a professional footballer will remain a dream forever.
