Bad joke or real?

First I thought this is a bad joke but it seems true that former Cologne Forward and Top scorer of Bundesliga plans to leave China and fancies Dortmund. Think a bit too late?

Modeste and Dortmund a deal? (Source)

International sources report the French is about to terminate his contract there and mentioned a desire to join Borussia - missed chance I say and I hope Borussia is not silly! Idea they sign him I would be careful in terms of payment.  He is sure not worth the same as 2 years ago where he was attracted by money only or how can one explain a move to China?

Back to the facts (or rumours): Former Bundesliga goal scorer Anthony Modeste, the Chinese adventure seems to be over after 13 months. The 30-year-old Frenchman was missing from the squad of his Super League club Tianjin Quanjian at the 3-3 draw with Beijing Renhe at the weekend, Modeste is said to be facing a return to Europe. His former club OGC Nice has already expressed interest, reports L'Equipe. But it seems he prefers Dortmund to become his next employer or adventure financing institution 🌋.

Modeste should have thought a bit more about his moves. In China he had enormous problems which became worse. He indicated that already during their Winter training camp in the SOUTH of Spain, lovely Marbella, where I spent already quality football time on my own when I was young he felt to be in the wrong club. Also his manager, Portuguese Paulo Sousa, mentioned problems. According to him AM missed several times in training too, he only scored four goals in twelve games to add.

Does Dortmund need another Forward?

Good questions which one might answer with yes since the loss of a real forward called Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is getting better in London. But Borussia apparently has not yet made an offer. Can Marco Reus play the role? I am not sure, maybe he could but his strength is playing on the side and he sees himself not as a centre forward too. Maybe Maximilian Philipp is a solution who played this role in Freiburg. A fact is that Borussia lacks a traditional wall player who bounces the balls and pulls the sprints into the depth desired by coach Favre - time will tell!
