WEEK 7 RECAP

Week 7 of the Premier League produced 25 goals and 6 clean sheets. Lets find out what awaits us in matchday 8.

Three teams still remain unbeaten this season (Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea) with Man City sitting top of the table on goal difference from Liverpool (2nd) and Chelsea in third with 17 points. Chelsea and Liverpools draw (1-1) last time out allowed Man City to regain top spot but it seems like all three teams will be challenging for the title this season. The standout game of the weekend has to be Sunday nights game between Liverpool and Man City at Anfield.

WEEK 8 PREDICTIONS

Brighton v West Ham

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Fri Oct, 5 - 20:00 - Amex Stadium

Matchday 8 kicks off on a Friday this week with Brighton hosting a rejuvenated West Hame team. Last time out Brighton suffered a 2-0 defeat at current champions Man City while the Hammers continued their up turn in form beating Man Utd 3-1 at the London Stadium. Have West Ham turned a corner?

It is always difficult going to the Amex stadium where Brighton can beat any team with the crowd behind them. Expect this t be an entertaining game that really could go either way. The Seagulls will want to get back to winning ways while the Hammers will want to make it three wins on the bounce. We are going with the home side to just edge this one.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Brighton (2-1)

Burnley v Huddersfield

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 15:00 - Turf Moor

Another team that seems to have turned a corner is Burnley who recorded their second straight win, all be it with some fortune away to Cardiff last time out (1-2), while Huddersfield’s terrible form continued with a 2-0 home defeat to Tottenham. The Terriers sit bottom of the table with no wins and just two draws and two points to their name after seven games. They will need to find some goals quickly and start picking up some points if they do not want to be cut adrift.

Huddersfield will look to defend and knick a goal in this game but Turf Moor is a difficult place to play and when Burnley are in form they are a match for anyone. In their last game they scored four goals and we expect and comfortable home win here making 3 wins in a row for the Clarets.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Burnley (2-0)

Crystal Palace v Wolves

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 15:00 - Selhurst Park

Wolves have adapted to life in the Premier League well and picked up another win last weekend beating Southampton 2-0 at home. Meanwhile Palace’s form has been mixed, one week they are brilliant and the other they are terrible. Last time out they suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Bournemouth.

This will be an interesting game as both teams like to play open football. We expect there to be a fair few goals in this one with it ending in a draw.

Our Prediction: Draw (2-2)

Leicester v Everton

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 15:00 - King Power Stadium

Leicester are another team who made it two wins in a row recording a comfortable 2-0 away win at Newcastle while Everton also recorded a comfortable 3-0 home win against Fulham. Both teams will be looking to collect maximum points here as both will be looking to qualify for European football next season.

The Foxes are always a match for anyone at home while Everton have not been good travelers this season. We expect this to be a tight game with the home side just edging it.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Leicester (2-1)

Tottenham v Cardiff

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 15:00 - Wembley

Tottenham recorded a 2-0 away win at Huddersfield last time our while Cardiff can feel unlucky to have lost 2-1 at home to Burnley. The Bluebirds sit second bottom of the table and have struggled for goals so far this season. They are still to record a win and this is not an ideal game for them to start.

Spurs have played well at Wembley but will be itching to get to their new ground as soon as possible and uncertainty over the completion of their stadium is definitely having an affect on the team. That being said this should be a comfortable win for Spurs and more misery for Cardiff as they wait for that elusive first win of the season.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Tottenham (3-0)

Watford v Bournemouth

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 15:00 - Vicarage Road

After Watford’s good start to the season they have only collected one point from their last two games and were beaten 2-0 at Arsenal last time out. Bournemouth are another side who have had a good start to the season and they picked up another three points against Palace (2-1) on matchday 7.

This is 6th versus 7th and should be an interesting game. Both sides can score goals but are suspect at times in defence. We expect Watford to just edge this one with home advantage.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Watford (2-1)

Man Utd v Newcastle

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sat Oct, 6 - 17:30 - Old Trafford

What is going on at Man Utd? One point from the last two games, they have already lost three games this season and sit 10th in the table. There are serious questions over the man-management and playing style but luckily for the Red Devils they are at home to a Newcastle side that could probably not score in the next 10 hours of football! Last time out the Magpies lost 2-0 at home to Leicester while Utd lost 3-1 away to West Ham.

For us this is a home banker and while Newcastle will play for a draw that is always difficult to do at Old Trafford no matter what Utd side is on the pitch. We just can’t see them holding out for 90 minutes.

Our Prediction: Home Win: Man Utd (2-0)

Fulham v Arsenal

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sun Oct, 7 - 12.00 - Craven Cottage

Sunday’s games kickoff with a London derby between Fulham and Arsenal. The Gunners are in fine form having won three games in a row and will be looking to make in four. Last time out they beat Watford 2-0 at home while Fulham lost convincingly 3-0 away to Everton. Fulham have played good football and look at threat up front but their defence is costing them.

This will be an open game with Fulham on the front foot and Arsenal hitting them on the break. We expect Arsenal to have too much here and make it four wins in a row.

Our Prediction: Away Win: Arsenal (1-3)

Southampton v Chelsea

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sun Oct, 7 -14:15 - St Mary's Stadium

It looks like another season of struggle for Southampton while Chelsea remain unbeaten so far this season. The Saints lost at newly promoted Wolves 2-0 last time out while Chelseas recored a hard earned draw against Liverpool (1-1) at Stamford Bridge.

The problem the Saints have again this season is scoring goals and this will cost them alot of points until they solve their striking issues. Chelsea on the other hand are in great form and playing some good football. They will definitely be challenging for the title come the end of the season. We expect a comfortable away win here.

Our Prediction: Away Win: Chelsea (0-2)

Liverpool v Man City

Courtesy of BBC Sport

Kickoff: Sun Oct, 7 - 16:30 - Anfield

The last game of matchday 8 is the game of the weekend with 1st (Man City) against 2nd (Liverpool). Both are on equal points separated only by goal difference and this will give us a good indication as to whether Man City will run away with the title again or if there will be more challengers this season.

This will be an entertaining game with alot of top players on show. Both teams like to press high up the field and play a passing game so expect this game to be won in the middle of the park. It is a hard one to call and could go either way but we are going to side with the home team here to just edge it.

Our Prediction: Home Win - Liverpool (2-1)
