Luka Modric wouldn't fail to be the happiest man on planet earth after Monday's night. It was the night he halted the duopoly of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo who dominated the Ballon d'Or over 10 years since kaka lifted it in 2007. The Croatian skipper has been praised beyond doubt for putting up a creative and perfect display last season to beat Cristiano, Griezman, Kylian and Messi to the award. Against all odds, the 2018 world of soccer belongs to Modric, all from the UEFA player of the year to Fifa's the best award down to the golden ball and then the Ballon d'Or. Wow!!! That's a big one for him.

Of course we all know the women Ballon d'Or featured its first this year with hopes aired up. Marta the Brazilian has really played legendary football leaving us with few or no many superlative left to describe her magnificent talent. Did she really win the first ever women Ballon d'Or? Nope!!! Ada Hegerberg became the lady to lift the women Ballon d'Or after a tremendous and stunning season with Olympique Lyonnais. The Norway stunner, finished the season with 28 league goals in 17 appearances, won the ligue 1, coupé de France and the UEFA champions league. Show me any man in the male category who can stand this feat? Thanks to the French, we can now enjoy female soccer. DJ Martin Solveig really pissed of the entire audience with his twerking question. Should women in football know how to twerk?.

Not to forget the world cup golden boy who won the U-21 award on Monday night too. The world cup winner is really rising above hate and with the steady pace, he's not far from clinching the Ballon d'Or itself. Mbappe who left Monaco for the French giant has really showed great potentials wherever he goes. Having the world cup and league titles to his name, its just a matter of strokes to get hold of the award.

WHY MODRIC?

Modric had am awesome season with Real Madrid, winning just the UEFA champions league trophy. He captained Croatia to the world cup final where the lost 4-2 to France. This was his major Achievement last season, so why give him the Ballon d'Or? Was the award given on merit or just to stop the dominance of Cr7 and MS10? Back in 2010, wesley Sneijder won a treble, was a finalist in the world cup, UEFA midfielder of the year, second highest goal scorer in the world cup, yet he couldn't even make top 3. Xavi & Iniesta were also robbed of the glorious moment. Thanks to Modric who dedicated the award to those who deserved the award but were denied of it.

WHO SHOULD HAVE WON THE AWARD?

Football awards are becoming major scams as the day goes. Griezman was in the better position of winning the Ballon d'Or. He won the world cup, Europa league and super cup, score 33 goals in 56 games and assisted 18. Yet he was denied of the better moment. That's sad.

Football awards this year will forever remain the biggest joke series in history.

Now here's the question.
Did Modric end the duopoly of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo or merely interrupted it?

Here are some pictures from twitter on thoughts about the Ballon d'Or. Some were against it, some were neutral with the decision, others concurred to the decision.
