Wonder never cease to end and we never get tired of seeing them all happening. This was total annihilation beyond repair as AC Cuneo brutally pummeled Pro Piacenza. After the Seria A & B, the serial C is the next in line as the third highest football division in Italia's 9 tier football division. This divisions consists of 3 groups(A,B,C) with 20-20-19 teams respectively in each group. Both AC Cueno and Piacenza are in group A, lying in 13th and 20th position respectively.
Pro Piacenza also known as the Rossoneri, Visited the hosts for a battle with a survival percentage less than zero. The Northern side arrived Stadio Fratelli Paschiero with seven players on Sunday. All seven players to face AC Cuneo were teenagers born between 2000 and 2002, with captain Nicola Cirigliano, 18, doubling up as manager. Their regular playing and coaching staff had refused to travel to Cuneo because of their ongoing wait for overdue wages. The club suffers from severe financial problem that they couldn't pay their players and staffs.
The team was so messed up that an eighth player forgot his identity papers and as a result, couldn't start the game. They were left with no option than allowing their 39 years old kitman into the squad to ensure that the game goes on. Fifa rules specified that a team must contain a minimum of seven fielded players before the game begins.
The game kicked off and its first goal came in the 3rd minute. Even with such an early goal, the realised end game wasn't expected. Teams do concede few seconds after kick off and the goal difference wont be much.
Pro Piacenza could have forfeited the game instead of receiving such demolition. However, they've already forfeited three league matches and a fourth would see them expelled under the league rules. Last week Matera were kicked out of the league after forfeiting a fourth match with their players on strike since December, having not been paid since September.
Francesco Ghirelli, told Sky Sport Italia: "What happened is an insult to sport and its principles. It's a black page for football. We can only apologise to everybody, above all the fans. We need to follow the regulations, but today the notion of sporting loyalty was violated, and it has gone too far. Football has its problems, but the parents also have responsibility. Why put these young kids through such a disgrace? As a parent, I'm really upset about this".
The club was charged a fine of €20,000 for fielding ineligible players and tagged them with an unacceptable behaviour for using players who are not adequately prepared from the competitive point of view. As a result of this, the game was ruled out and assigned as a 3-0 defeat while the club were excluded from the league. The teams' physiotherapist who replaced a player during the game was placed on embargo until 31 December, 2019. Wow!!!! ain't that a long period?
