Mid week wasn't fun with me😕

Tuesday and Wednesday night football witnessed a happy, sad, funny and twisted moments from all angles. It was a battle for top flights teams to preserve their worth, qualifying with a tremendous comeback and also having little setback while in hot pursuit. It eventually turned bad for about 72% -85% bettors. The books ran in favour of the powerhouse teams but the output came out different.

The English premier league.

Tuesday hosted Arsenal vs Cardiff city

Gunners were so relaxed and confident against the blue birds with defensive injury crisis (Bellerin, Sokratis, Holding, Koscielny). They were still up to par with their play. Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead just 24 minutes to endgame while Lacazette increased the tally in the 83rd minute. During the additional minute, Mendezlaing reduced the deficit for Cardiff but they ran out of time for a leveller. The 2-1 victory slotted in Arsenal to 4th place above Chelsea in the league table.

Manchester United vs Burnley

This game was actually a test of faith for the interim manager. The Red Devils lost the hook and gave away chances to Burnley who decided to seize the opportunity converting them into a 2 nil lead over the host early in the second half. Barnes and Chris wood were on a course to give the team their first away win against the host since 1962 and also inflict a first defeat on Ole Gunner. The manager was clearly staring at his first defeat when Burnley reached the 87th minute still leading 2-0 and it was also the first time his team were behind in a game after he had won all 8 matches as caretaker. All thanks to Pogba who reduced the deficit by one goal from the penalty spot after Jeff Hendrick tugged down Lingard. Lindelof's rebound from Alexis header equalled the scoreboard ana that seems to be the best five minutes for Manchester united at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United vs Manchester city

This match was really something to right home about for the host "The Magpies". A well deserved comeback victory at St. James Park. The Citizens took the early lead as Aguero's opener kept City in front 24 seconds away from kick off. With such an early goal, majority thought it'll be another day of goal extravaganza from Guardiola's men but the reverse was the case this time around. Salomon Randon restored parity in the 66th minute while Matt Richie sealed the most surprising comeback this season from the penalty spot 10 minutes to the end of time.

Fulham vs Brighton Hove Albion

This was another game that caught my interest. The first 17 minutes of the game were in favour of the visitors Brighton as they led the host 2-0. Glenn Murray swiped in a comfortable lead for the visitors but everything started turning negative in the second half of the game. Two minutes into the second half, Chambers gave hope to the cottagers with his goal. momentum started growing for the home team as Mitrovic Aleksandar head home a leveller. He puts his team in front in the 74th minute with another header while Vietto makes it 4 for the home team.

Liverpool vs Leicester city

The Merseyside reds hosted the Foxes at Anfield seeking for a win to climb 7 points away to the top of the table. The situation took a stunning turn around as Leicester left their host frustrated with a 1-1 draw. Snow fell at Anfield prior to kick-off but Sadio Mane warmed up the arena with his early opener to put the host ahead. However, they failed to capitalise on the lead when Harry Maguire tapped in a half volley kick past Alisson few minutes before the whistle went for half time. Klopp's men weren't playing at par as they were unable to create blossoming chances to get another lead goal. The visitors were tactically prepared with their all out attacking-defensive mechanism. The hosts were possession tight but the visitors outsmarted the play and almost caused a disaster. Moreover, the title race is still on a clear course for both Man City and Liverpool.

Bournemouth vs Chelsea

This was the best part of Tuesday night for almost every Anti-Chelsea fan in my locale. The Cherries stunned the Sarri and his legions with a 4-0 win. This was a huge blow to Maurizio as they slipped below Arsenal to 5th place on goal difference. Same month last year precisely on the 31st, they did the same destruction to the blues with a 3-0 defeat which is an awesome #12 months challenge banter, lol. Moreover, it was an awkward debut match for Gonzalo Higuain who we thought knew how well the Sarriball tactics works. However, he was substituted in the 65th minutes after failing to record a shot on target. maybe the tactics wasn't that reliable for effective goal scoring as the passes kept building and accumulating but the goal chances wasn't forthcoming e.g

Tottenham vs Watford

Gracious Heung-min Son and Llorente gave the host a tremendous leveller and comeback respectively. Pochettino is definitely struggling with their attacking force as both Harry Kane & Dele Alli were part of the injury crisis. However, this has been a moment for Llorente to showcase that abilities he possesses. The team still looks confident and relaxed as they try to maintain the steady pace for the league title.

Italy - Coppa Italia

Atlanta vs Juventus

The Bianconeri met their first domestic loss at Bergamo in a tie against the most prolific Seria A side. After serving the heat against Lazio in the league, it became unconvincingly sure that Allegri's men would make it to the next round of the Copa Italia. Gian Piero's men dominated the game in style, holding their grounds from all angles just before Castagne's 37th minute strike gave them the lead. Divan Zapata increased the tally by two after scoring a brace just to end the dominance of Juventus in the cup competition. Massimiliano was rationally sent off after his irrational behaviour while frustrated.

Spain - Copa del Rey.

Barcelona vs Sevilla

It was a stunning performance from the Catalans with an outstanding comeback win. The first leg of the cup competition gave Sevilla 2 goals ahead of the LA LIGA giant when Ernesto valverde's judgement to rest club captain Lionel Messi backfired. This is not the first time we've witness comebacks from Barca. They did it against Levante and now against Sevilla. The presence of just one man made the difference. Nevertheless, all thanks to Coutinho whose brace, Cillessen with a penalty stop, kept them high and flying.
