Filip Stuparević edited into a Watford kit

People in his homeland have deemed him the new 'Robin Van Persie': true physical power and technical quality make him a complete striker, with the addition of being able to cover different roles in the front line. It is no coincidence that at the age of just 18, Filip Stuparević is already a starter for Serbian SuperLiga side FK Voždovac and has attracted interest from several clubs such as Juventus, Valencia, and Watford. However, at the end of the day, it is the Premier League club of the Pozzo family that has officially secured his signature.

Born in Belgrade, Stuparević made his mark at FK Rad Belgrade, before moving to FK Voždovac, another club based in the Serbian capital. Here, his great technical and physical means did not go unnoticed, with the young striker earning the call-up to play with his nation: 5 goals in 9 appearances with Under 17, before climbing into the Under 19 category, and finally into the Under 21 category, with which he made his debut last September in the match to qualify for the European Championships.

Despite an impressive physique, the 2000 born player makes explosivity one of his best talents; a characteristic that allows himself to be able to cover the role of a winger and striker thanks to an excellent individual technique. He is naturally left-footed, but he is considered ambidextrous and is able to play on both flanks. This season, so far, Stuparević has already scored 2 goals and provided an assist in six matches for the Serbian club.

Juventus followed him for a long time and viewed him on several occasions, Valencia inspected the possibility of signing him, but in the end, it was Watford who accelerated operations and satisfied the demands of FK Voždovac, ensuring the player of their desire to bring him to their club. A true talent with lots of time and capability to learn and grow, Stuparević will move to Vicarage Road to dress for the Hornets beginning from January 1, 2019 (for a fee of around €3 million) and has signed a contract until June 30, 2022.
