Lazio currently sits in fourth place with 28 points in the Serie A TIM after 17 rounds of Italian football. With 20 goals conceded, they have managed to score 25 goals resulting in a +5 goal differential. However, taking a closer look at their goal tally, they are tied for seventh for the most goals scored in the league - quite surprising for a fourth-placed club, especially a club who scored the most goals in the league last season (89 goals in the 2017/18 Serie A TIM season).

Many believe the lack of goals has come from a productivity issue from club stars such as Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - who compared to last year have not provided nearly enough for the Biancoceleste - whilst others Simone Inzaghi's 3-5-1-1 formation; although one could argue either point, one cannot deny the fact that Lazio are trying. In the Serie A TIM so far this campaign, Inzaghi's side have produced the most shots within the penalty area with a number of 168 attempts. In addition, in the top five European leagues, only two clubs have had more shots from within the area: Premier League sides Manchester City (190 attempts) and Chelsea (170 attempts), two clubs managed by two footballing masters in Pep Guardiola and Maurizio Sarri.
