74' on the field for Kosovo in the victory achieved against Malta, the full 90' in the draw against the Faroe Islands. Valon Berisha is returning, ready to make his impact and Lazio are ready to welcome him with open arms.
A player scouted last season when they played RB Salzburg (Berisha's previous club) in the Europa League, Lazio went full force this summer behind the scene's to sign the Kosovan international midfielder. After almost signing for Sampdoria, the 25-year old changed gears and decided to sign with the biancocelesti - a move that sent much joy to Laziali.
A true weapon in midfield, Valon is super versatile as he can play any role in the midfield - left, center or right. After debuting with the biancocelesti both in the league and in the Europa League, putting together 31 minutes of play, the International Break has given him some much-needed confidence: "I'm not at the top physically yet, but this is the first 90-minute game I have played in 4 months. I will work hard to improve."
He will improve without a doubt, but the numbers are already comforting. Against both Malta and the Faroe Islands, Berisha was one of the best on the field as he played as a center-attacking midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation. He was the player in possession the most, making multiple passes with a high pass success percentage rate.
A leader for his national side, Kosovo are first in their group in the UEFA Nations League: "We tried to win against the Faroe Islands, but the draw is good too, we are still at the top of the group. Unfortunately, our opponents have closed on us well", Berisha continued and concluded.
Now the journey back to the capital, where everyone cannot wait to see him again in the field.
