Long waiting moment of return of Champions League to North London is finally here. It will of course return to new White Hart Lane or N17 because like you already know Tottenham Hotspur are the only team in North London playing Champions League. First game will be against dangerous side Olympique de Marseille. It comes after good display and win against London rivals Fulham and few days before big derby against champions of England Manchester City away.
Spurs coach Antonio Conte doesn't have very good record in Champions League with his previous clubs, because he prioritize competition for domestic title. However he didn't have good record against Arsenal too and won them 3:0 last season. He told the press that fixtures are congested and that he will be forced to make rotations because no player can play all of them. It's going to be interesting to see what squad he will pick for game against Marseille.
French side started great in league. They have 5 wins, 1 draw, 0 losses they scored 13 and conceded only 3 goals. Olimpique has same ammount of points like PSG. That is telling me this side is very serious and bomb from hat number 4 for our group. Coach from Croatia Igor Tudor knows what he's doing. Squad is full of ex Arsenal players like refubrished 33 years old player Alexis Sanchez. I thought he's been finished during his Manchester United times, but it seems that Conte returned him back to life in Inter and he's running riots in France now. There are other Gunners in that squad like Gendouzi and Kolasinac and it will be interesting to see will Romero be able to refrain not to pull Gendouzi's hair in this match. :) I am joking of course, but those players will be for sure very motivated and up for this game. Continental style of playing with little space left to opponent is something we don't like at N17 and something we have troubles to play against.
Tricky game is in front of us, very good opponent, but we wanted to compete here and it's time to show that we deserve to play in this competition among the best! Is there better way for this than winning first game in style ? Let's see what our front three can do in Champions League! My prediction for this game is 2:1 for Tottenham! COYS!
