Hugo Lloris picked up injury and will be out for 6-8 weeks. We'll probably not see him until April. I must say I was not impressed with him this season apart from Manchester United game when he saved us not to lose 5:0. He made to many mistakes especially in big games. Fact that he kept clean sheet in last couple of games is more because of how team defended and blocked almost any direct shot and how other clubs missed the target than his actual coming back in form.
He was excellent shot stopper with problems with distribution of balls, who won big things like World Cup, made dozens of great saves in the past, but who in same time make Sunday league errors from time to time and two of them where recently against Arsenal and Aston Villa are still fresh in mind. I wanted Forster on goal after that and I'll get him now as it seems. I hope I'll not regret that wish despite some fans are claiming his best years are behind him and that all who want him on goal will be disappointed or that he was all over the store against Brentford. I didn't watch that game, but just highlights and I saw him saving one big chance with his foot and didn't spot some big mistake like deflecting ball from chest like from tree, passing to opponents, punching ball inside own net and stuff like that...
In short I believe Forster can do the job, but if he goes out of action we're without proper goalie. Sources close to the club said we could call from retirement Ben Foster. That's how much we believe in our third goalkeeper. It's a pity we missed the train with Nick Pope last summer... Daniel could on example buy younger good keeper instead of Djed Spence whom coach didn't want at all.
Other news I want to point out is information that Conte if stays in charge on Spurs bench after summer would like Marcelo Brozovic from Inter. If it is some other player of his football quality I'd be excited because he is good, but to play for Tottenham you need also some human qualities and player above seems to lack them. Why do I think that ? In short because of shameful celebration of success of Croatia on World Cup in his pub.
You can watch it here.
Two players Lovren and Brozovic were recorded screaming "Za dom spremni" ("For home ready") which is battle scream of "Ustashi" from World War II. "Ustashi" were military of Nazi puppet state "Independent State of Croatia" who made genocide over Serbs, Jews and Roma (Gypsy) people. They killed from hundred thousand to seven hundred thousand people only in concentration camp Jasenovac. They had also concentration camps for kids. This article is even claiming they saluted like Nazis. All of that was while listening songs from pro Nazi Croatian singer Tompson about killing Serbs. I am not 100% sure about salutation, I watched video they screamed "Za dom spremni" in the beginning for sure and listen to Thomson's music. What such player have to search in club owned by members of nation which is the biggest victims of Nazis ?
Minimum of minimums would be to apologize for this and to publicly condemn state and military of Ante Pavelic by those two. They would never do that I am sure because they probably believe they were very nice guys in World War II and would probably have problems at home if they do that. Is it lack of knowledge or evilness or consequence of threatening by someone I let you judge. Good example to others (fans) would be visit to memorial complex Jasenovac and put flowers on monument of so many innocent victims whose only guilt was they are other ethnic and religion group! Do I need to mention how many people from Serbia supported Croatia on World Cup after elimination of Serbia ?
Big NO to Brozovic in Spurs from me. There must be someone normal with similar football qualities for club like Tottenham!
At the end Happy Birthday to Daniel Levy which was yesterday. He gave birthday interview and said things like "not everyone can win, it's difficult", tried to say he loves football, he is also passionate but doesn't jump or celebrate because of respect to other club owners near him. He told also "We can bring players we can afford" and how it's dream to have "manager for 10-15 years" and most worried thing "managers are part of the game they come and go". Yes they come and go but should not come and go every 12-18 months but after 3-4 years at least. They should not go few days before League Cup final like one of them went! He also told when Spurs lose that ruin his weekend, when they play bad he feels even worse. That's good if truth.
Majority of fans like current coach because of his passion and previous success and want him for at least 2 more years and board which will not work against him behind his back, but support him properly with 2-3 better players than we currently have in every transfer window. Fact he didn't tell is board and owners can come and go too. It's hard (or shell I tell nightmare) to have same owners for 22 years with only 1 trophy won while they have best ever goal scorer! :)
What Mr Daniel Levy did these days is organize Bayonce concert on Tottenham stadium on 3rd June day of FA cup final. Imagine we qualify for final and 35-40000 our fans return from Wembley to Tottenham part of London to face 50-60 thousand Beyoncé fans. Maybe he already knows we will not proceed to final ? How can he know that for sure at this point when only just beaten City and United are in from "big 7" ? Will he or someone from board take care of it ? Don't do it man, let players play like they can they might win FA cup and you will have fans more satisfied again after. Don't work behind manager's back. Adjust your vision.
