Nuno Espirito Santo

Search for new Spurs boss has been finished. New head coach will be ex Wolverhampton boss Portuguese Nuno Espirito Santo. Club officially announced he will be manager for next two years.

I must say I am not much excited with this appointment despite he was one of first two names which came on my mind when people asked who should replace Mourinho earlier this season. Two names which went through my mind were Southampton and Wolves boss. It was period where Southampton was in top part of table and when Wolves played good football. However after Jose got sacked and we heard names like Ten Hag, Poch, Conte and with poor Wolves and Southampton form near the end of season I quickly forget those two managers.

Situation was quite embarrassing with a lot of managers rejected Spurs job and as preseason comes closer appointment become urgent. I thought Daniel Levy is waiting for Euro to end to appoint Mancini, Martinez or Enrique, but I was obviously wrong. Reports are saying he didn't want Nuno because of his style of play, but new director of football Paratici sit with him and explained him that Nuno can adjust his style of play to be more attacking. He showed Danel Levy Nuno's Valencia and that convinced him. Length of contract of two years is clearly showing Tottenham intent which is to hire Mauricio Pochettino when he finish his job at PSG.

My personal opinion about Nuno before second part of this season was that he is constantly over achieving with Wolves. When they came in Premier League I thought they are cannon fodder which will return in Championship in first season, but they finished in top half of table. I thought that's coincidence, but they repeated success next season too even qualifying for Europa League. I understand they had important injured players this season and that might be reason for poor form near the end when they looked more like disbanded gang and not like serious football team. If Nuno could get in top part of table with Wolves there is no reason he would not do the same or better with Spurs. About his style of play I can say that I liked it, quick passing, running where every man knows clear what is his task.

Reports are also saying that Nuno likes to give chance to young players. I hope that's true because Spurs have few exciting young players like Tanganga, Rodon, Scarlet, Skipp etc... They might get chance to play more in first squad. Nuno could also help Matt Doherty to start playing like when he was in Wolves. The thing I like the most is his wish to keep Harry Kane in Spurs. His Wolves also were not cannon fodder for top clubs from Premier League.

In one word, I am not to excited, but I secretly hope Nuno will surprise me next season. In any case I know who I should hold responsible for this appointment - Paratici. I've heard he is working day and night and that is what Spurs need right now because there are plenty of deadwood in squad which need to go out either by selling, swapping or with buy 2 get 1 free approach... I still believe 100-200M can be obtained by that and then Fabio need to show his Italian black&white (Juventus) magic and buy few not to expensive but extra players! I am confident he knows what he is doing!

We have now benefactor (Harry Kane) and Holy Spirit (Espirito Santo) that might be excellent combination for next season. Mr. Santo welcome to Spurs! COYS!
