Spurs against Vitese away, Spurs against Mura, Spurs against Morecambe... Those games are clear examples how Tottenham look when they try to play with B squad. Are Spurs reserve players so bad that they can't win struggling Division One club who is sitting on 21st place in their league ? Are they that bad that half amateur club like Mura can beat them ? Maybe they are that bad, but I think otherwise. I will try to explain main problem at N17 at the moment.
Do you remember times when Ndombele and Lo Celso came in club ? They looked like players very good on ball. Tanguy looked like capable to dribble two, Gio looked like he can take the ball and run between 3-4 and make cracking good pass, like player able to score goal, dangerous one too. How did they look to you against Morecambe ? Tanguy looked like player who can't stand on his feet and Lo Celso looked like under attack of ball every time it comes to him in first half.
Do you remember Japhet's first game against Liverpool ? He marked Sadio Mane excellent. Few days ago he looked like player who can't make the simplest pass toward team mate. Do you remember Rodon's game against Chelsea ? He looked like very skillful and stable defender who made just ONE error near the end. He looked like panicking boy who is shooting ball in corner without any big need against Morecambe. He might had rib injury, but why did he play game then ?
What happens with all those players ? Did they forget how to play football over night ? I know not playing can make you little rusty, but not to the point you can't perform against Morecambe and fail in simplest basic things. It's something else. That something is unhappiness with club policy and ownership.
When player doesn't play and has ambition he becomes unhappy and might ask to leave the club. Tottenham owners will listen him and tell ok we are ready to let you go, but will then put unrealistic high price tag over his head because they want to earn money on every single player. Ajax comes for Bergwijn offered 18M which is his value on transfermarkt, but club said we want 50% more or 27M. Club from Amsterdam will probably withdraw from interest and we'll have one unhappy player who is not playing and who will probably play bad when he comes in until he becomes like Tanguy.
If you ask me Gio, Tanguy, Dele are unhappy players which underperform due to unhappiness. I think Japhet fall in that group too now. Do you remember how Eriksen looked like before the end ? He was shadow of himself. When you have a lot of unhappy players who don't care they will sooner or later start to drill manager. That lead to performance like in first half against Morecambe. They will fall on any slightest contact and lose ball, jog or even run on pitch on stupid way making playing football impossible for few who'd like to play like Winks or Gil. They'll make non football error Jose talked about in the past.
Why would they do that you might ask ? Answer is to drop their price and to make fans angry and ready to let them go and to make club happy with offer which is lower than previous offered. However some of them recalculated themselves, because they are bad for so long time that no one is actually interested in them anymore! Tanguy is good example of that and Dele Alli is very close to that too.
Solution is to swap or sell those players even if that mean losing some money and buy real good players with good attitude and work habits instead. If you can't do that just terminate their contracts and remove them from cow's breasts and sign some free, or not to expensive players or promote some hot prospects. Spurs must become unit in which every player are ready to do anything for manager and club. I want to see players running smart like winded all over pitch, players who breath in opponents neck before they get ball, players opening for passes, strong enough to hold little push on feet, fit to the point where opposition deflects from them, players hungry for goals, winnings, trophies.
Daniel please don't save unhappy players with unrealistic price tags offload them and trust to Fabio and Antonio. They know what they are doing! Antonio is one of top if not the best manager today! If you let unhappy players to drill him and he walks away be sure you will walk away too!
