Lewandowski smashed 41 goals in 29 appearances for Bayern last season

With just four weeks until the 2021/22 Premier League season gets underway, Chelsea are stuck in a deadlock finding a striker.

The Blues saw their player plus cash offer for hotshot Erling Haaland thrown out the window by Dortmund.

Nonetheless, that has not stopped them from sniffing around for an alternative.

Reports floating around say Chelsea are eyeing an ambitious swoop for goal-scoring machine Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski smashed the long-standing Bundesliga record held by Gerd Muller for the highest goals scored in a season.

Lewy has scored 203 goals in 213 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern since joining from Dortmund in 2014

The Polish striker hit a record 41 Bundesliga goals last season for Bayern Munich.

However, it's going to take plenty of hell's work luring the 32-year-old FIFA Best Player away from Bayern.

Lewandowski has nearly two years left on his contract at the Bavarian outfit.

Bayern, on the other hand, don't have a replacement for the "phenomenal" centre-forward should he leave this summer.

However, Chelsea are willing to test the waters and are reportedly planning a £50 million move for Lewy.

Lewy has racked up 292 goals in 327 appearances in all competitions for Bayern

With Haaland off the markets for now, a move for Lewy — at least for the short term — is a good steal.

But it will be difficult for the European champions to convince Bayern to sell the prolific striker.

Besides, the German outfit are desperate to tie hitman down beyond 2023.

Meanwhile, Chelsea begin their 2021/22 Premier League campaign against Crystal Palace on 14 August at Stamford Bridge.
