Arsenal's failure to end the season with any trophy achievement and also not finishing in the Champions League zone makes the club look fast moving to add to the depth of the squad. After successfully recruiting Unai Emery as a new manager, the Gunners also officially brought five new players.

Nevertheless, this does not necessarily make them forget the mainstay players who have already joined. After officially adding the term of Callum Chambers and Emile Smith Rowe, now Arsenal are also officially extending Alex Iwobi's contract until the next 2023.

Responding to Iwobi's new contract, Unai Emery finally spoke up. The Spanish man also felt happy because the club managed to secure the signature of one of the talented players they have.

"I am very happy because Alex Iwobi has signed a new contract with Arsenal. He is an example of a player who can achieve success while still strengthening the academy and has now confirmed a place in the first team," Emery said as quoted by the Evening Standard.

"Now I am very impatient to work with Iwobi and other talented young players in the squad," he added.

As an additional information, before deciding to add to his tenure with Arsenal, the Nigerian player was rumored to have been included in the list of top European clubs such as AC Milan, Lazio, and Everton.

Alex Iwobi began his football career with Arsenal's junior squad in 2015, it did not take long, he was immediately able to promote to the main squad in the same year.

Three seasons with the Gunners, the 22-year-old has appeared in 98 matches with a collection of nine goals and 18 assists in all competitions. Not only that, Iwobi was also able to present two Community Shield and an FA Cup trophy.
