The 2019/2020 UEFA Champions League season has featured five matches played by each team so far. With only one match left for each team in the group stage, some teams already know their fates (in terms of elimination, movement to Europa league or qualification for UCL round of 16). However, some are still in the battle of deciding their fate.
Five of the groups already have at least one team who have secured qualification to the next round while groups E, G and H still have a fierce battle ongoing. Let's take a look at what Group E looks like
The results of matches played in this group yesterday leaves Liverpool at 9 points, and Napoli only one point behind them. Red Bull, who have put up an outstanding performance so far are in third position with 7 points, still very much in contention for the next round.
For them to proceed to the next round, Liverpool now need at least a draw when they play against Red Bull on December 10. Napoli on the other hand, will need a win against Genk (who are out already) to be on the safe side.
While it may be easier for Napoli to get their desired result against Genk, Liverpool might be in for a tough one against Red Bull in Austria. The hosts are likely to put all they've got into this especially in front of their own fans.
This is not an easy prediction to make, but hopefully, Liverpool can put up a good fight and make it through, especially with their recent practise of late goals. The Anfield encounter is enough to help Klopp prepare his team for Austria and make sure that the boys are focused enough.
