FC Augsburg has gained some air in the relegation duel against Hannover 96 on the weekend with its 3:1 home win. After H96 took the lead through Weydandt, FCA could still keep the points in Augsburg with goals from Cordova, Schmid and Hahn in the home arena.

After a good start by Hannover 96 and the early lead by Weydandt, FCA managed to bring some order into their game after a quarter of an hour. The FCA was nevertheless difficult in the offensive against a defensively good Hanoverian team.

Augsburgs coach proved a lucky little hand shortly after the half-time break, when he brought Cordova for Finnbogason. Shortly after his substitution, the Augsburg Joker stabbed with a dusting device after a post shot by Andre Hahn.

The FCA then pushed for the lead, which then fell in the 78 minute by a remarkable free kick by Schmid. The final point was set by Andre Hahn in the 86 minute.

The victory enabled FCA to pass FC Schalke 04 in the table with 25 points. On the relegation place and thus on the VfB Stuttgart it is now already 5 points.

In the next match against the last player in the table from Nuremberg, FCA can make a huge step in the direction of class retention, provided you can score in Franconia.

The form curve of the Fuggerstädter points in the last weeks slightly upward. It seems as if the personnel around Jens Lehmann has paid off for the FCA.
