Since last Saturday and thus on the penultimate matchday it is official that the glorious 1.FC Nuremberg must play in the coming season again in the German second League. Together with Hannover 96, who have also been relegated since last Saturday, the club has to make the bitter move to second place.

All the more bitter for the club fans is the fact that the relegation was sealed exactly on the birthday of the greatest club legend Max Morlock, who would have turned 94 last Saturday and after whose name the stadium in Nuremberg is named.

The requirements were clear before the game. FCN had to win their home game against Borussia from Mönchengladbach in order to keep at least their minimal chance to keep their class. At the same time, VfB Stuttgart were not allowed to win their home game against VfL Wolfsburg.

But everything came differently as we know since the weekend. The club lost its home game with 0:4 against Gladbacher, who was cold on the ice and who in turn showed one of the best games of recent weeks. The FCN was mercilessly countered by the foal eleven, who made it after the 0-1 lead excellent.

In Hanover it was a little different. The 96 won their home game against the sports club from Freiburg grandiosely and deserved 3:0. Unfortunately, this result did not help the Niedersachsen any more.

The reason for this was in Stuttgart, where the VfB beat the wolves 3-0 and destroyed their last hopes in Franconia and Lower Saxony. The VfB did its homework and can now hope to maintain its class in the relegation. The opponent has not yet been determined, but it is not the Hamburger SV who gambled away the chances of a direct ascent in Paderborn on Sunday and thus remains at least another year in second place.

VfB's opponent will be determined in the long-distance duel between Union Berlin and SC Paderborn next weekend. One of them will be the second in the second league to be promoted directly to the Oberhaus, the other will have to relegate against VfB.

In Nuremberg and Hanover, however, we saw conciliatory images between the teams and their fans when they relegated, unlike in recent years. Everyone was certainly sad, but the teams were comforted in their curves by their fans and rebuilt by loud support. In Nuremberg You´ll never walk alone echoed from the 80th minute through the stadium and the players were celebrated despite the defeat. This left a big impression on the Gladbach fans in the guest bend. After the Borussen fans had celebrated and said goodbye to their team, they stayed in the stadium for a long time and started to applaud the opposing fans.

The club players stood in their corner for a long time and were comforted and celebrated by their own fans, despite relegation. Then the players were given specially made jerseys by the fans with a clear message "Mission Rise again" emblazoned on their chest.

The pictures from Hannover were no different. Also there the team was celebrated after the relegation.

For the FCN this is the ninth relegation in the history of the club which is a lonely record in German football. However, they also hold the record with eight ascents and will be able to expand it in the next season.

So Clubberer - stand up and again ascend - the FCN belongs in league 1.

ciao
