1. Rigobert Song 

Song is a former defensive Cameroon footballer born on 1 July, 1976. He has played for teams like Galatasaray, Liverpool, and West Ham. He captained his national team and was a key player for his national team for more than a decade. He played in USA 94, France 98, and Korean-Japan 2002 World Cup 

Song retired from football in 2012 and he suffered from stroke three years later in his hometown, Yaounde. He was in coma for two days when he struggled for his life before he was flown to France. Song was lucky to have survived stroke upon treatment. 

2. Gary Parkinson

Gary is an former English footballer born on 10 January, 1968. He was appointed as the Head of Youth at his former club Blackpool in 2006, until he suffered a severe stroke in September 2010. He suffered from a brain stem stroke that lead to paralysis. 

Gary went from a medically fit man to someone struggling for his life. Gary deteriorated and was moved to intensive care where it was confirmed that he had suffered a locked-in syndrome. Till date, except for the eyes, Gary can't talk neither can he walk. 

3. JUNIOR AGOGO


He's a former Ghanaian footballer born on 1 August, 1979. He started his football career at Sheffield Wednesday in 1997. The 38-year-old former Ghanaian player played for more than fifteen clubs before he finally retired from football. 

Agogo suffered from stroke in January 2015 shortly after hanging his boot. The stroke subsequently led to Aphasia, which later resulted into speech impairment. In an interview with BBC in 2015, Agogo spoke about how his former footballers neglected him but he was able to recover.
