Tonight's game between the host nation, Egypt against Zimbabwe ended in a 1-0 Victory for the Egyptian. This was a match that was far below people's expectations, especially the narrow escape victory for the host nation
No one would ever thought a team like Zimbabwe will be hold the down, if not for their defensive error that made them concede a goal, the match would have resulted in a goalless draw.
The Egyptians being the stronger and host nation playing on their bullying ground were expected to handicap a team like Zimbabwe but it didn't happen that way. Mohammed Salah was marked out by the Zimbabeans defenders and didn't perform as expected.
Zimbabwe relied on counter attack which didn't work for them because their attackers were not well coordinated and smart. When the game was going to an end they switched their attacking tactics to outside shootings which they ought to have been doing earlier
Tonight's game was a very though one and I hope Egypt improve their gameplay otherwise they are in a strong battle against Congo. Assuming the Zimbabwean attackers were well coordinated and smart, Egypt would have received a shocking and humiliating defeat.
