The world "hate" is a very strong word to use in this kind of situation and both players will never admit hating each other because they both need each other to stay relevant in football. However, they both compete against each other to stay afloat in their career. Although Ronaldo has gone extra mile to be the great player he is, but he's still not as great as Messi. Unless he concedes that fact he won't be able to understand his estimation.
Now, let's forget those epistle and say the truth in its unclothedness
First and foremost, Messi and Ronaldo aren't friends. Since they are rivals in the game of football they just try to laugh sheepishly at each other in the presence of the media so it won't look they have resentment towards each other due to the kind of tension both fans and media have created between the two of them.
Ronaldo is a very proud player and wants all glory to be ascribed to him. He wants to be the only one that will score and outshine every other player on the pitch and doesn't want any player to get close to him. He gets jealous of Messi when he does something unimaginable but Messi never does that.
Messi has praised Ronaldo on different occasions but this the last thing Ronaldo will never do. An example was when he scored a hat-trick that sent Atletico Madrid packing in the UCL but this is something Ronaldo will not do. Even when he won awards Messi has never at a point discredit him.
Ronaldo has dared Messi quite a few number of times to leave Barcelona and come to Italian so that the world can see who the better player is.. Who does that? His actions and words show it that he doesn't really like Messi
Since hate is a very strong word, I wouldn't say Ronaldo hates Messi per se, but he's envious and jealous of him
