When you talk about UEFA Champions League, a team like Barcelona or Madrid is what people look out for. Even you're anti Barcelona or Madrid, you will want to see them on the tournament. They just have to be in the tournament otherwise a UCL without Barcelona and Madrid is no Champions League 😁

If Barcelona or Madrid are eliminated from the tournament, let's say in the round of 16, the whole planet shakes. It becomes the talk of the town unlike when teams like Chelsea or Arsenal are eliminated.

When Madrid were eliminated by Ajax in the quarter final of the UCL this season while Barcelona on the other hand were eliminated by Liverpool, everywhere was littered with the news and it felt like they are a failure. The UCL lost its aura as both teams crashed out of the tournament.

Now, the question is, why is Barcelona or Madrid considered a failure when they get eliminated from the Champions League compared to other top teams in the same class like EPL?

Could just be because they are world class clubs or because they spend more money to buy players?
