Newcastle United have today confirmed the signing of signing of 18 year-old prodigy Garang Kuol from Australian A-League club Central Coast Mariners in January just a week after the young forward made his international debut for The Socceroos:

Born in Egypt after his family fled from Sudan before travelling to Australia as refugees, Garang Kuol is the second brother of a football family which has already produced a professional footballer in striker Alou Kuol who plies his trade as a striker in Germany for VFB Stuttgart yet his younger brother has beaten him to a full international cap:

Since Newcastle's new Director of Football Dan Ashworth joined the club in June 2022, The Magpies have stepped up their scouring of the globe for football talents and Kuol could be be the first of a production line of gems who can become future Premier League stars as was Ashworth's modus operandi at former club Brighton Hove Albion with players such as Tariq Lamptey, Yves Bissouma and Leandro Trossard.

AussieScout on Twitter has provided a scouting report on Garang Kuol from watching his exciting development and rapid rise in Australia and it looks like Newcastle have an extremely fast, exciting dribbling and goalscoring attacking talent on their books:

To manoeuvre around work permit issues, the 18 year-old - who was recently selected to play against Barcelona in an A-League All-Stars game - will likely be loaned out to a European club with a host of clubs ambitious to have him on their books as he looks to follow in the footsteps of his goalscoring elder brother.

Its a coup for Newcastle who may have just landed the next big thing from Down Under.
