Newcastle United are being strongly linked to a move for Arsenal's 22 year-old striker Eddie Nketiah, a player who scored a hat-trick against Sunderland recently in The Carabao Cup Quarter-Final, and hope to wrap up a deal for the Gunners contract rebel very soon according to The Daily Telegraph's Luke Edwards:

Nketiah has scored 5 goals in his 42 Premier League appearances for Arsenal and a further 13 in Cup competitions in 33 games but has become frustrated with sitting on the sidelines at The Emirates Stadium and has refused to sign a new contract so is a free agent in the summer meaning this is The Gunners's last chance to cash in on the protege who began his youth career at Chelsea:

It is with England U21 that he has been allowed to excel by playing regularly scoring a record-breaking 16 goals in 17 internationals to become the highest Three Lions U21 goalscorer in history including a perfect hat-trick against Kosovo surpassing Alan Shearer's record 13 goals and Captaining the side.

Nketiah's quicksilver pace and rapier-like finishing combined with a striker's bravery to get in the positions where it hurts but goals are scored has made Nketiah hot property and drawn comparisons with another youngster who didn't make the grade at Arsenal but would flourish spectacularly in the black and white of Newcastle - Andrew Cole:

That Sunderland hat-trick has already endeared Nketiah to Newcastle supporters and he will fast become a Geordie fans' favourite if he keeps up in that vein and fires Newcastle to Premier League safety and up the table next season.
