Its Transfer Deadline Day and it promises to be the most exciting for years for Newcastle United fans & while it was being mooted that Newcaste's £25M bid + bonuses for Reims France U20 striker Hugo Ekitike was accepted, the deal is now off after it emerged the 19 year-old didn't want to move to Newcastle at this stage:

Its a deal Newcastle may revisit in the summer for a player with a very bright future.

SKY's Keith Downie announced bid in the region of £25M has been accepted by Reims and, crucially, the fact Ekitike is only 19 means he will not be named in Newcastle's 25-man Premier League squad so will effectively be an extra player for Eddie Howe:

The pacy 6ft 2in 19 year-old striker, who has been likened to Kylian Mbappe, Thierry Henry & David Trezeguet by excited watchers of French football, was linked to Newcastle early in January but a first bid fell through when the Reims Chairman accused Newcastle of using 'impossible' bonuses including winning The Champions League in the deal:

Yet seeing Newcastle splash what could be a club record transfer fee of £41.5M on Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimereas yesterday may have signalled to Jean-Pierre Caillot and others in football that anything is possible again at St James' Park and they have returned to the negotiating table.
