The French Ligue un returned after the international break with a clash between two giants of the French league as Monaco hosted Paris St Germain. The game started in a good note for the French champions PSG with two goals from star striker Kylian Mbappe who just returned from an injury lay off and the Parisian side went into the break leading.

The second half started rather slowly but took a different turn when Kevin Volland pulled one back for the host and then grabbed an equalizer after he connected with a neat pass from midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas.

Things went from bad to worse for PSG when Abdou Diallo was shown a red card for a professional foul and a penalty was awarded to Monaco which Fabregas converted.

The result saw Monaco moved to second on the table with twenty points and four points behind table toppers PSG
