Former Manchester united and England captain Wayne Rooney has been named interim coach at Derby after the sacking of Dutch man Philip Cocu after a very poor start to the season that has seen the rams pick up just six points from a possible thirty three and sit at the bottom of the table.

Rooney who has been a player coach with the team since his arrival in January has scored seven goals for the side but would now occupy a more demanding position especially looking at the position the team find themselves at the moment.

Present Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was coach at Burnley at led them to a play off and Rooney would be hoping to eclipse that feat should he be given the job in a permanent basis.
