The limit on legionnaires is a sore subject for football functionaries, specialists and fans of many countries of the world. First of all, this applies to Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Federations impose restrictions. There must be at least the specified number of domestic players on the field. For example, in Kazakhstan there should not be more than 6 legionnaires on the field at the same time. In Belarus, there are at least 7 domestic ones. In Russia, the scheme operates: 8 + 17. In Ukraine, there must be no more than 7 foreigners on the field at the same time.

Consider the positive and negative aspects of the limit

Should such restrictions be imposed? Does the limit help you grow your own professional players? Does the national football team limit help? How does the limit affect the development of club football? There are many questions. There are not answers to all.

The pros of introducing a limit on legionnaires

It should be noted right away that Russian President Putin is categorically “for” the limit. He believes that this is the only way the Russian national football team will be able to get to the Olympic Games. At the same time, he says that the players have not made it to the Olympic Games for the last 20 years. But he "forgot" that the limit has been in effect for the past 15 years.

After that, FFK General Secretary Azamat Aytkhozhin expressed his opinion. He pointed out that after Putin voiced his opinion, the limit will not be canceled in Kazakhstan either.

Some experts believe that domestic footballers need support. They should receive as much practice as possible. In addition, supporters say that if the limit is lifted, only foreign players will play in Russian clubs. Accordingly, there will be no one to invite to the national team.

The opinion of the opponents of the limit

First of all, you need to understand that the limit is killing club football. Restrictions are currently in effect in the above countries. When was the last time the clubs of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Ukraine reached the decisive stages of the drawing of International tournaments (Champions League, LE and so on)? How many clubs represent Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan in the international arena? Where do countries rank in the UEFA and FIFA rankings?

It is generally very difficult to talk about Belarus and Kazakhstan. Of all the Russian clubs in European cups, there are now only 3 clubs: Zenit, Lokomotiv and Spartak. Ukraine's situation is identical: Dynamo, Shakhtar and Zorya (2 of them play in the Champions League). In the first round, only 2 teams, out of 6 indicated, were able to achieve a positive result. Dynamo (C) and Lokomotiv (M) played their meetings in a draw. The rest lost. Moreover, they are far from strong rivals. Among which is "Sheriff". By the way, there is no limit in Moldova.

It turns out that the limit has a negative impact on the development of club football. It is rather difficult to find a large number of domestic players. We need to strengthen and develop children's sports. It turns out that the clubs are forced to release those they could catch on the field. They will soon be looking for players in the courtyards.

Domestic players are well aware that they will play anyway. That is, even if their level is several times lower than that of the cheapest foreigner. For example, in Russia, all players receive high salaries. Including those who do not show results. Accordingly, the overall level of domestic players is declining.

Please note that in Russia Karpin cannot find first-class performers for the national team. If a player doesn't want to work, he won't play. There is no competition. This only contributes to the fall in the level of national football. Accordingly, many experts, including Karpin, believe that the limit has a detrimental effect not only on clubs, but also on teams. The level of football is falling. Players don't want to develop. Nevertheless, the question of the limit of legionnaires will be raised for more than one year.
