The famous Italian coach Fabio Capello thinks that France will play England in the World Cup final. According to him, France will beat Belgium, and England will defeat Croatia in the semi-finals.
Regarding the outcome of the final, Capello thinks that England has a better chance to win the trophy. The Italian himself coached the Three Lions from 2008 to 2012, but without any major success.
At Capello’s time, England boasted a star-studded squad, and the expectations were high, but now times have changed. Before the World Cup in Russia, England were hardly seen as favourites, yet they have already reached the semi-final for the first time since 1990.
“They have fast lads and a great manager,” Capello said. “Southgate understood that he’d go home with two central defenders, so he put three. He’s finally found a goalkeeper who saves: Pickford has reactions and positional sense.
“He [Southgate] is helped by a context like the Premier League in which clubs launch youngsters without being conditioned”.
