This year has been successful not only for Vincent Kompany, who won a bronze medal with Belgium at the World Cup in Russia.

Vincent's father Pierre has become the first black mayor in Belgium, folowing his win at the elections at the municipality of Ganshoren, located in the Brussels capital region.

The 71-year-old Pierre Kompany arrived in Belgium in 1975 from Zaire, which is now called the Democratic Republic of Congo. Later he got involved in politics in his new homeland and was elected a member of Brussels regional parliament.

Vincent, who plays his club football at Manchester City, was happy to congratulate hid dad.
