The whole Poland was disappointed by a lacklustre performance of the national team in their World Cup opener against Senegal, which they lost 2:1.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, who plays his club football for Juventus, did not live up to expectations either, as he made a mistake when his team conceded the second goal.

Wojciech’s father Maciej Szczesny, a former goalkeeper himself, used hard words while analysing Poland’s performance at the tournament. “It was shame and disgrace,” he said. And Maciej did not spare his son either: “During the episode with the second goal, our goalkeeper probably ran away to the kiosk with beverages.”

On Saturday, Poland will play their second group match against Colombia who also started the tournament with a surprising defeat against Japan. It’s not certain whether Szczesny will be in the starting line-up once again, as the team has another strong goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.
