Arsenal Loanee Mateo Guendouzi has admitted being distressed over the Gunners' failure to make Englands European spots.

During the just-concluded premier league campaign, Arsenal finished in the 8th spot. A spot that guaranteed them no place in the continental competitions.

Arsenal – A perfect definition of living in past glories

Without a doubt, the current performances of the Gunners have made them more of a joke than a top-six Premier League team.

Last season's performance was the worst since sometime in 1995. In other words, for over 24 years, Arsenal has never had a bad outing like that of the 2020/2021 season.

Reactions from Matteo Guendouzi

Although not being part of the Arsenal team, Guendouzi was quick to express his unhappiness with the outcome of Arsenal's 2020/2021 season.

On his part, Guendouzi was loaned to a German side Hertha Berlin. This became his fate after a misunderstanding arose between himself and current boss Mikel Arteta.

Moving on, Guendouzi related this reason for his distress. Insisting that despite the fact he was not with the squad, his heart remained with the Gunners.

Rounding up, he insisted that Arteta and his lads deserved to be in the Champions League places every other season.

Matter Guendouzi's early days at Arsenal

The French midfielder was first brought to Arsenal by ex-manager Unai Emery. He was a regular starter under Unai Emery.

Nonetheless, with the arrival of Mikel Arteta, the attitude and devotion of Matteo Guendouzi were called to question by the manager. Leading to a clash between both parties.

In line with that, he was eventually loaned out to German mid-table side Herta-Berlin.

Final Thoughts

Despite having a rift between himself and Mikel Arteta, Guendouzi has shown a great level of professionalism by expressing sadness over Arsenal's performances.

Nonetheless, only time would reveal if the doors of the London side would be reopened for the French Midfielder.
