Gonzalo Higuain in the famous Milan colors

Prolific Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain has said that he was "kicked" out of Juventus following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Higuain said it wasn't his decision to leave Juventus, a club that he joined in 2016. "It wasn't my decision to leave. I gave everything for Juventus and we won several titles. The club wanted to make a change and they told me I could not stay and we tried to find the best solution. The best solution was Milan," said Higuain. "At Milan, they immediately showed me great affection and that convinced me."

Juventus spent €100 million to acquire Ronaldo's services, breaking their all-time transfer record in the process. However, before the Portuguese goal machine's love affair with Juventus began, Higuain was Juventus' record transfer.

But despite being popular with the bianconeri faithful, Pipita's issues at Juventus began back in May when he was left out of the Juve's starting line-up at the Coppa Italia final against AS Roma. Juventus won convincingly by 4-0. "Inside me that day I had the feeling that something was broken," he told La Gazetta dello Sport when asked about life after that final. Perhaps not too surprisingly, the beginning of this season saw Higuain exchange the Allianz Stadium for San Siro.

He however claims to bear no grudges against Juve for the way he was treated. "Mine is a feeling of affection because they treated me well. The supporters also showed me great affection and I won't forget that," the 30-year-old said.

Obviously, few would not consider Cristiano an upgrade on Higuain - but what's your opinion? Was it a good switch?
