Napoli football club have officially renamed their Stadio San Paolo to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona after the decision was approved by local council.
Maradona who is a legend of the club and a sporting Icon died of a cardiac arrest according to sources played for seven seasons at the club from 1984 to 1991 and helped the club scoop their only two scudettos till date and a UEFA super cup in 1989.
The team would play its first game at the renamed stadium on Thursday in a Europa league clash against spanish opposition Real Sociedad on Thursday.
Tributes continue to pour in for the late Diego Maradona whom many have described as possibly the greatest player of all time
