I don’t like international breaks and I rarely watch the matches. However, this is a kind of must watch match for me. My country Nigeria is playing Brazil. It’s a case of small vs Big and everyone will want to watch the outcome. The Nigerian squad is one filled with dazzling talents led by Villareal prodigy Chukwueze, Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Osimhen, and so on. The recent snub of the Super Eagles by Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori means most Nigerians will want to watch the Brazil vs Nigeria match and pray we do well. It’s a kind of rivalry now, England lost to Czech with Tammy Abraham playing less than 3 regular minutes. Many believed he would have formed a strong partnership with Osimhen and lead Nigeria to cup success. That’s not meant to happen and trust Nigerians, we are watching Tammy Abraham closely. Brazil were favorites to win the match but it was Nigeria that scored first. They also contained the Brazilians with goalkeeper Francis Uzoho making a number of saves.
The second half started in similar fashion with Nigeria defending and trying to catch the Samba boys on the counter. The Brazilians got the breakthrough in the early stages of the second half from the boots of Casemiro and the score ended 1-1 with no more goals from both sides.
The match is a disappointing one for the Brazilians. This is a match they should win easily. They couldn’t find the final pass for their attackers. This is something Tite will want to work on. If you hope to do well in real competitions, you need to solve this little problems. They can be the difference between a drab draw and a massive win.
Nigerians will be proud of that result and will want to build on it. I believe the super Eagles can still improve, they don’t have a pattern yet and I think that is a problem. We won’t be lucky every time. We had a very decent chance of qualifying from the 2018 world cup in Russia but blew it. A new coach who knows his onions should be appointed. This is the time to build for the future. We have players that can still play 2 world cups and we should build the team around them. A good coach with the right tactics can deliver us the World cup. The nations cup and other friendlies are there for preparation to actualize this dream.
