Frank Lampard finally record a home victory in the league. Chelsea built on their Carabao Cup victory to see off Brighton & Hove Albion.

The absence of Ngolo Kante wasn't felt as Chelsea dominated from start to finish. Brighton defended well in the first half to deny Chelsea a first half goal. The same style continued in the second half until a defensive error led to a penalty and a goal.

Brighton have adopted the now famous playing from the back style and that was what cost them the game. Chelsea have missed host of chances and many thought it's one of those matches that will end in a shock loss for Chelsea or a drab draw.

A pass from the keeper to Adam Webster saw the club record signing taking down the onrushing Mason Mount. Christopher Kavanagh pointed to the spot directly and gave Webster a deserved yellow. Jorginho converted the penalty kick and Chelsea confidence grew from there. Hudson Odoi came in and his directness caused a lot of problems for the Brighton defense.

A swift move from left to right saw him lay a pinpoint pass to Willian whose shot was helped by a deflection into the net. The second goal and that's game over.

Frank Lampard will be proud of the performance. The results they have gotten so far is an indication of the quality in the squad. The young players have really turned up. Kante and Rudiger will be back soon. This will lead to quality competition and result into the players giving their 100% when called upon.

It is good news for Lampard now. The boys are making him proud.

Pep Guardiola's Manchester city turned up against Everton. It's just 7 matches but Liverpool is leading with 5 points already. This means Manchester city cannot afford to drop any point. They showed their intention from the start by attacking with the intent to score as much as possible. They got the breakthrough from Kevin DeBruyne exquisite pass that was converted by Gabriel Jesus. Everton switched to attack immediately to find the equaliser. They were rewarded after a cross was poorly dealt with by makeshift defender Fernandinho. Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted Coleman cross ensuring that they go in level at half time.

The second half saw Manchester city dominating and look like scoring. They finally got their chance from a smart free kick by Riyadh Mahrez. Sterling completed the win with a goal thanks to goal line technology. Everton had chances to reduce the win margin but couldn't beat Ederson.

The match ended with a 3-1 victory for Manchester city and they are still well in the title race.
