Two former marquee forwards of their clubs are about to switch. The potential deal has divided football fans all over the world. Everyone is saying this club got the better player.
How true is that?
Lukaku has been out of form recently for Manchester united. Infact, the whole Manchester united team has been out of form.
They had a poor season and needed a total overhaul of the team. They already brought in Daniel James, Wan Bissaka, and about to announce Maguire. They now look to solve their attack problems. Many united fans are cautious of a swap deal after the Mkhitaryan and Alexis Sanchez deal went wrong. The Chilean forward Alexis has been a flop in the red devils shirt. They would be looking to avoid the same scenario with Dybala.
The 2018/2019 season was Lukaku second season for Manchester united and his stats is encouraging. He scored a total of 27 goals with 9 assists in the 2017/2018 season with 4071 minutes played. That's a decent return for him. He is just settling in his new club and any new striker in the premier league will be proud of that.
Many expected him to continue with that and even surpass it in the 2018/2019 season. Well, that was not the case. Mourinho led Manchester united had issues that led to many poor on field performance by the players. He was eventually sacked. Romelu Lukaku was still able to score 15 goals and 4 assists with 3001 minutes played.
When you compare both seasons, you will notice that in the 2017/2018 season, he scores or assists every 113 minutes.
In the 2018/2019 season, he scores or assists every 158 minutes. When you consider the poor Manchester united form, the change of coach, and training methods plus style of play I think it is still a decent return.
He can surely improve especially on his poor first touch. With head coach Solskjaer being a former striker, that's something that can be solved with ease.
Paulo Dybala the former golden boy of Juventus. 10 goals and 5 assists for Juventus last season is a concern. The last time he had something worse was back in 2013/2014 with Palermo still in Serie B. Many attributed his poor form to Cristiano Ronaldo presence. He was benched at a time for the effective Bernadeschi who combined well with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Dybala playing style is one that wishes to be the controller of the team. He want to be the go-to guy for anything attack. He thrives in that mode. That is why he has been unable to see enough playing chance in the National team. When you look at his stats, you will see that it's only a drop in form and he's going to pick up later.
The question is will Manchester united help him pick. Time will tell
Verdict
Lukaku will be a hit at Juventus. He will be like Benzema with Ronaldo combination. His major task will be exhaust the defenders and let Ronaldo get in to score. We've seen him do that a lot of times. He did it against Psg, against Brazil and was effective. He's a hardworker and I am sure will fit into Sarri squad. With a strong midfield behind him and Juventus having most of possession, we are going to see a different Lukaku. He will replicate his National team form with ease.
Dybala will also be a hit at Manchester united at the long run. He has the quality to survive in the premier league. He might struggle at first due to the physicality of the league, but I believe he will pick later on.
I watched some of his games for Juventus and you see him stopping play when kicked too much. You will be kicked in the premier league and you need a strong mentality to survive.
