They moved to spending heavily on young players as they are looking into the future.
Rodrygo, Vinicius Junior, Sergio Diaz, Marco Asensio, Dani Ceballos, Martin Odegaard, Vallejo, Theo Hernandez, Alvaro Odriozola, and Lunin are examples of players brought in due to this new found youth policy.
How many of these guys are actually playing well. Marco Asensio had some decent showing against Barcelona and that's it. Vinicius showed raw talent but he's not the finished product yet. No-one develops young players anymore and relies solely on them. You incorporate them with the existing top players.

Look at Barcelona, they sold Neymar and bought a whole lot of attackers. Dembele didn't turn out as everyone expected in his first season and they brought in Coutinho and Malcolm. That's how it is done, if one doesn't turn out good you move to the next. Real Madrid opted for Mariano and gave him the number 7 jersey all in a bid to troll Ronaldo.
Do you think any average defense will fear Benzema, Bale, and Mariano. I don't think so. Vinicius has been Madrid only threat this season and showed in the Copa del rey match against Barcelona that he's still far from being a Cristiano Ronaldo esque player.
The transfer policy is flawed, go back to your Galacticos policy now.
Luka Modric scam revealed
The current world best player got bossed by Frenkie de Jong, Donny van de Beek, and Lasse Schone in both legs of the fixture. Every sane individual knows that Modric sweeping the awards is crazy. Protected by Rakitic and Brozovic who kept things tight in the centre of the pitch, he was able to shine for Croatia. Casemiro and Toni kroos did the same at Real Madrid and Yeah! his outside of the boot passes wowed everyone thinking he is right there at the top.
Oh! Luka Modric, come wind your magic against these young Ajax side (ALONE).
I still maintain my stance, Luka Modric is a fine midfielder no doubt, but he's never at Iniesta or Xavi height.
