The Uefa champions league round of 16 draw took place on 17 December 2018 in Nyon, Switzerland. The 16 remaining teams in the UCL now know their opponent in the next round of the UCL games coming up second week in February.

Winners

Real Madrid

The Spanish club have a sort of Jekyll and Hyde season ever since Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane left the manager role at Madrid leaving a huge gap for any incoming coach to fill.

Announcing Julien Lopetegui as the new head coach brought some hope to the Madrid fans considering the fact that he was a success with the Spain National team. We are not yet in mid-season but Real Madrid have sacked Lopetegui after strings of bad results which includes a 5-1 defeat in the El-classico. A former Madrid player Solaris was employed and tasked with the responsibility of making Real Madrid a force in the football world again.

Real Madrid got Ajax in the first knockout round and will be looking to prove that Experience is no match for Youth. They are the king of Champions league and will be looking to brush aside a Ajax side that boast of Golden Boy Matthijs Dear Ligt. Luka Modric, Club world cup hattrick hero Gareth Bale, and World cup Golden glove winner Thibaut Courtois will ensure they see off the the threat of the talented Ajax side.

Barcelona FC

Another Spanish team in Barcelona have an easy fixture in the UCL. Barcelona re not at their best form with some match performance casting doubt on the Valverde led team. Nevertheless, they have an easy fixture against Lyon in the UCL round of 16.

Lyon might have held Mancity thanks to great tactical discipline by the team, but they are no match for this Barcelona side. With Leo Messi, Barcelona boast of a player that can destroy any defense. Lyon knows they are in for a game come February as they look to stop Messi and co. This is an easy one that Barcelona should win easily.

Losers

Liverpool

Last season Uefa champions league finalist Liverpool are not having things easy this season in the UCL. Liverpool are paired with German giants Bayern Munich. Despite having a below standard season, Bayern Munich is one team you will want to avoid. They are a force in Europe. Unlike last season where Liverpool had easy fixtures in the group stage, this year has been a different story. Losing 3 away games in the group stage and facing Bayern Munich at Anfield without the suspended Van Dijk is worrying. Any loss or unfavorable result means they have to correct the result at Allianz Arena in the second leg. They have the EPL to contest for too in what is a tough season for the Reds. With the congested EPL fixtures, injuries may to key Liverpool plyers may play a role into he fixture.

Looking at the good side, this may be good news for Liverpool fans because getting ousted from.the UCL will make them focus on the league and win it come May.

Manchester united

Most manutd fans are at crossroads on which is better. A first position then face Atlético Madrid or their current fixture against Neymar led PSG. None of the teams are easy to play considering Manchester united current form. Manchester united currently playing below standard and just sacked their coach Jose Mourinho hope to get Porto in the draw. They got PSG and have to do it the hard way

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must devise a means to stop the attacking trio of Neymar, Mbappe, and Edinson Cavani come february or we might see a basketball score.

Unless a miracle happen, Manchester united are on their way out of the UCLin the first knockout round.
