At least 1,040 people were detained yesterday at protests against election fraud and violence by the security agencies of Belarus, according to the Viasna human rights center, while volunteers speak of at least 1,250 detainees. There are very famous people among the detainees. For example, yesterday they were detained at rallies against Lukashenka and have already spent one night behind bars: Olga Hizhinkova - Miss Belarus 2008, who recently finished working as a press secretary in the reigning champion of Belarus in football "Dynamo" (Brest). Andrey Kravchenko - Belarusian athlete, silver medalist at the 2008 Olympic Games in decathlon, silver medalist at two world championships, European champion in decathlon and heptathlon. Ivan Ganin - multiple champion of Belarus in kickboxing and Thai boxing. Semyon Bukin - master of sports in gymnastics, artist of Cirque du Soleil People of other professions were also detained, including Red Cross medics, journalists and others. For example, the artist Alexander Zhdanovich, who is known to all Belarusians on a TV program for children, was detained after he took the Christian cross and approached the law enforcement agencies with a request not to shout at the woman. Now all detainees are waiting behind bars for their participation in peaceful protests. Some of them are located in the very famous Center for the Isolation of Offenders (CIP) of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Minsk City Executive Committee on Okrestina Street in Minsk. This is the very institution, about the horrors of which many Belarusian and world media wrote. Since the beginning of the protests in Belarus in 2020, at least 17,853 people have been arrested.
