More stricter health checkups must be implemented in football
The world was on standstill has news of the Eriksen collapse that happened in front of the whole world during his team group stage game against Finland. The match was eventually abandoned as grief held everyone even those outside of the football realm. It's just so amazing to see how footballers and the world at large react to United in scenarios like this. Everyone thought he was probably dead as he fell on the pitch unmarked and unchallenged and was unresponsive for minutes. He was just lying on the floor lifeless while his teammates circled him with teary and a frightful gesture written all over them. Eriksen survived afterwards but the panic caused could not be easily forgotten. This is not the first time such as happened in football but it's the first to happen on such a large scale. This begs the question of whether the medical treatment gets before entering a football match is adequate or not. It should be recalled that a lot of footballers have died from collapsing/fainting in the stadium without any contact with any footballers. A recent example is the case of Tiote. He lost his life on the pitch of play doing what he loves best which is playing football. When he died no action was put into implementation to curb out scenarios such as this. With lots of precautions being directed to ensure the safety of footballers on the pitch, safety precautions before the players even aver stepping into the pitch has not been top-notch. It's still a work in progress at the moment or maybe not even in the plan of the football governing body. At the time of writing, the cause of Eriksen collapse remains a mystery that everyone hopes never to repeat itself. With this in the back of everyone mind, how can the beautiful game be made even safer for the footballers? The simple and plain answer Is an intensive medical checkup an hour before a game starts. There is no easier way to avoid this crisis than tackling it hands-on. The procedure might be uncomfortable to the footballers as being checked match after the match may make it tiring but they should have it at the back of their mind that this was put in place in their best interests. Another aspect that may discourage this from fully being implemented is that the cost of and personnel needed. Even if the clubs have the funds, gathering the personnel in this time of covid might be suicidal. The fact is that this test is rigorous and tedious to complete and concerning that, the personnel brought it might wanna cut corners or might miss something. It's a very straightforward practice that needs requires more than just a straightforward approach. Christian Eriksen may be fine now but his Euro 2020 journey may be over in less than 30 minutes. This occurrence might ruin the game and in that regard, more health and stricter measures should be put in place to avoid a repeat of this as the next player might not be as lucky as Eriksen. What do you think about the occurrence?
