Tottenham left vs right side in crossing
Big majority of Tottenham fans and I think coach Antonio Conte wants new right wing back in our club. Big majority will agree this is place which need urgent upgrade. I just watched some clip where some bearded elder Tottenham fan claimed he is looking in serius place, paying for it, to see actual data and said Sporting player Porrro is not better than Royal and similar stuff. I looked in publicly available stats web site and found out some shocking information. On above picture you can see name of player, successful crosses and attempted crosses and percentage of successful. Picture is speaking about itself. Look how many crosses are coming from left and how many from players who play on right side of the pitch. Look at that shocking percentage on the right. Ivan Perisic alone on the left made 3 times more successful crosses than entire right side and with 100% better percentage! We all knew he is very good crosser but this stats are accusatory! Royal 35 attempts only 4 hit team mate! Doherty 9 attempts only 1 hit teammate! Romero is not trying that at all, Sanchez didi it twice with 1 successful and only decent there is Kulusevski with 19 attempts and 5 successful which is decent 25%. Only 65 crosses came from that side and only 11 were successful! I can udnerstand that defenders like Romero or Sanchez are not trying that, but those wing backs... That stat is criminal! Worst on left side Sess had 4 from 26 are 15.38%. Davies looks like developer of crossing for pals on right side, Lenglet too but he didn't attempt to many times. Son is similar like Kulusevski but trying them more, while Ivan is like from other dimension. If I know that you can count every opponent we face know that and will try to block left side with more players because they know there is very little threat from right side expect when Deki Kulusevski has ball and convert in on left leg and prepare to cross or shoot. That's why we need better right wing back. I saw Pedro Porro is around 22% success rate which is 2 times better crossing than what we have now. I am not saying he's world beater or that we shouldn't maybe look for someone better, but think he'll be step forward. We can't expect to find Ivan Perisic on the right because there is only one Ivan Perisic. :) Information was from https://footystats.org/ web site. You can check them yourself. Look on example Trippier from Newcastle ex Spurs player. His crosses stats are 58 / 139 (41.73%) and on top of it he can score from set piece ?! Those are serious wing backs! He has of course holes in defending, is not high, can't protect back post on cross from other side etc... but he's world beater in crossing. Spurs target Pedro Poro from Sporting has 16/70 or 22.86% which is double better than both our current right wing backs. He has also good key pass statistic (22!), dribble successful rate 44% (11/25) , but very bad shooting on goal. Young but only 1.73 m high which opens question can he defend back post on crosses ? Also dribbles passed him is around 1 per game in Portugal league. I don't know if he is a solution, but he has better crossing statistics than our current wing backs. Let's find very very good right wing back in January! COYS!
