Chelsea is performing wonderfully this season under the services of club legend Frank Lampard with lot of academy graduates but there is one player i think has been outstanding for the club in the midfield so far and that is the Croatia man Mateo Kovacic who seems to have find himself in a new role under Lampard due to the fact that Ngolo Kante has not be consistent in the team. The midfield has seen Kovacic pairing Jorginho and is yielding a positive result. One of the area where i personally think Frank Lampard is getting it right has to do with the central midfield because it is not that easy for any team who has Kante as a major key player in the DM to survive in the midfield in his absence because this is a man that knows how to win the ball back successfully. Chelsea has been without the French Midfielder in some matches know and they don't really miss his service with the help of Kovacic which simply mean the French man is not dispensable in the midfield. The manager has been able to cope without him and one man that is foing this job perfectly here is no other person but the Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic. Kovacic last season under manager Sarri was more offensive and was expected to create more chances up front and some score goals as well but it has not been easy for him to achieve all this, although he did a brilliant job under the manager last season linking up the midfield perfectly and making some impressive run up front but he wasn't that clinical in front of goal but still, it will be very hard for any manager to bench him in his team because he is very strong with the ball. No wonder the club finally secured his move permanently after spending the first season on loan with the club from Real Madrid. He was very instrumental under the Sarri-Ball tactics alongside Jorginho and Kante in the midfield. It now look like he has now found a new role for himself under the new manager playing as a DM and at times moving the ball past the opposition to the attackers or linking up with the wingers. Everybody will now agree with me here that the club actually took a good decision in securing his deal on a permanent deal because to get a player like him in the league with the current market price will cost nothing less than £70m -£80m which has only cost the club £45m. Although he is not the type of player that will give you number of goals and assist during the season but he is a perfect box to box player that doesn't get tired easily. It will really be hard for Lampard when player like Kante, Loftus-cheek return back to the team and with players like Kovacic and Jorginho all available for selection as well, many people believes the Croatia man didn't worth that amount when the club decided to get him on a permanent deal but his performance recently has shown while he deserve to be in the starting line up and that is where the issue will arise and where i will like to see how the manager will manage the midfield. Kovacic make things very difficult against Burnley whenever he is in possession of the ball and with the way he turn the Burnley players in the midfield was really an outrageous one. He is such a big match player and will can actually see that last season with the way he partner with Eden Hazard on the pitch. According to stat in the match against Burnley, the Croatia man was very instrumental in the midfield by having 9.2 % out of the club 63% ball possession ahead of Jorginho who had 8.8% and again, the player was also ahead when it comes to accurate passes with 96 to 93 from Jorginho and finally when it comes to football touches, he has the highest touches of 130 compared to 104 from Jorginho. He knows how to hold the ball very well makes opposition players to commit in the game. I must confess he is a perfect deal for the club.
