Lacazette And Aubameyang Lead Arsenal Rout At Craven Cottage
Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang both scored a brace as five star Arsenal routed Fulham at Craven Cottage to continue their fine form going into the international break. Fulham started brightly and wasted a couple of chances early on but it was Arsenal who drew first blood. Nacho Monreal who has been in fine form this year continued well in attack, squaring the ball to Lacazette in the 18-yard box and the French man who was Arsenal's highest goalscorer last season neatly controlled the ball with his left foot and his back to the post, before firing into the bottom corner on the near post. Despite dominating the game after scoring Arsenal still showed defensive frailties like they did in the opening minutes and Fulham this time made them pay with Andre Schurrle dinking one over Bernd Leno in goal with just one minute before half time. Arsenal have been the highest scoring side in the second halves of games in the league this season and needed just nine four minutes after the interval to continue this record, Lacazette once again hitting a first time shot on the turn. Unai Emery was not looking to slow down as he brought on Aaron Ramsey and Aubameyang. The former starting and completing a typical Arsenal move with a beautifully flicked back heel. Aubemayang who has formed a strong partnership with Lacazette extended Arsenal's lead in a similar fashion to Lacazette's first goal albeit the shot with his left foot, before completing his brace in the 91st minute, latching unto a Ramsey through ball and placing beyond the goalkeeper. The win takes Arsenal to nine wins in a row in all competition, their best start in over five years.
